12 Comic Book Movie Moments That Ignored The Script
2. Jackasses and Jackson Pollack W*nk Jokes
Some of the most amusing scenes in James Gunn’s snappily scripted, gag-filled Guardians of the Galaxy were a result of on-set, quick-witted thinking from its cast and crew.
Though Bradley Cooper, or at least his voice, is better known as the man behind Rocket Raccoon it was actually Gunn’s younger brother Sean that stood in as the character during filming and in the rousing scene where the intergalactic misfits agree to go to battle together against Ronan the Accuser it was Sean that improvised the sarcastic racoon’s line "Bunch of jackasses, standing in a circle".
It was a spot of risqué ad-libbing between Gunn and Chris Pratt that led to one of the film’s more memorable quips, however. The scene in which Gamora comments on how dirty Peter’s ship, named after his childhood crush Alyssa Milano, is and he retorts "if I had a black light, this place would look like a Jackson Pollack painting" was thought up last minute on-set by Gunn and Pratt.
Abstract expressionism and masturbation innuendo in a Disney distributed film? Surely not!
