4. Thanos Will Show Up In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2
The Rumour
After making his proper bow in the first Guardians Of The Galaxy and with some unfinished business to attend to with the Infinity Stones and his "daughters", Thanos will return in Volume 2.
The Killer Proof
Kevin Feige said it:
"I wouldn’t look too hard in that movie for Thanos. The next time we see Thanos he will not be messing around. It will be, ‘Oh, that’s why they’ve been teasing this villain for five years!'"
It seems it's too much of a distraction for his main event in Infinity War.
Would It Have Been Any Good?
Well, it would have left an almighty plot hole closed. Thanos should be appearing in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 because there's an Infinity Stone on Xandar, where it's been put for protection from him and his minions. There's also one still in the possession of The Collector (since the Warriors Three dropped off the Aether at the end of The Dark World). So he has dealings with two Guardians groups at least.
Okay, so that could be done in Infinity War after he learns of their locations (he shouldn't have to guess too hard at the Collector having one since it's implied he works for him), BUT that film has a distinct possibility of running 5 hours long to fit everything in. Seeding it here would have been better.
