4. Robert Smigel's Green Lantern With Jack Black

Jack Black was rumoured to play Green Lantern. Yeah, you read that right - the Shallow Hal star was set to play a Green Lantern named "Jud" in a comedic portrayal of one of DC's most prominent heroes (the screenplay for which can be found online). It was set to be directed by Robert Smigel - the American actor, comedian and writer known for his Saturday Night Live "TV Funhouse" cartoon shorts and as the puppeteer and voice behind Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. The story, in a nutshell, saw a massive asteroid heading towards Earth. Black's character would have used his power ring to move the Earth out of its path, which would have ended up causing global-scale natural disasters. Unable to fix the issue by any conventional means, the hero would have remembered that Superman turned back time in Superman: The Movie, so he would have created a Superman construct using the ring and undone his moving of the Earth by rewinding time to before the event. Ridiculous. And, had Black taken the role, it would have been even worse.
