8. Godzilla (1998)

Radioactive, giant reptile Godzilla has held the title of King Of Monsters ever since he terrorised the big screen in Toho's 1954 kaiju classic.

With over 32 films in the longest running film series to date, though, it's not surprising that even this cinema icon has had their fair share of duds. And the one everyone seems to jump on first is the 1998 Hollywood offering.

Originally, this was set to be the beginning of a brand new trilogy and although it grossed $379 million worldwide against a budget of around $150 million, this was still seen as a massive under-performance, with the film met by scathing reviews from critics, Toho and audiences as well.

However, if you go into it expecting a silly monster movie rather than the epic blockbuster it wanted to be, its outdated effects and campy action and writing make watching this film a whole lot more fun than you'd think. It's just not a Godzilla movie.
