Riddled with too many story arcs, Spider-Man 3 lacks depth and a convincing plot. One of the problems is the number of villains in the movie. With too many villains, none of them has a compelling back-story to which we can get emotionally invested. The only thing most people remember about the movie is probably the cringey scene in which emo Peter Parker is dancing.

Even director Sam Raimi himself admitted that the movie is "awful" and it was his mistake because did the movie half-heartedly. He revealed in a podcast:

"It’s a movie that just didn’t work very well. I tried to make it work, but I didn’t really believe in all the characters, so that couldn’t be hidden from people who loved Spider-Man. If the director doesn’t love something, it’s wrong of them to make it when so many other people love it."

He also added that he would love another chance to redo Spider-Man although it is highly unlikely now that Spider-Man is part of the MCU.
