10. Spielberg's Overconfidence Ruined The Lost World: Jurassic Park

The Lost World: Jurassic Park is an underwhelming follow up to the critically-acclaimed Jurassic Park. The dialogue is bland, the story doesn't make sense, and the plot is so convoluted that anyone who watches it will feel baffled rather than thrilled.

According to director Steven Spielberg, he flunked The Lost World because he was overconfident. In an interview, he said, "My sequels aren’t as good as my originals because I go onto every sequel I’ve made and I’m too confident. This movie made a ka-zillion dollars, which justifies the sequel, so I come in like it’s going to be a slam dunk and I wind up making an inferior movie to the one before. I’m talking about The Lost World and Jurassic Park."

It's ironic really, considering that The Lost World is based on a novel that author Michael Crichton probably wouldn't have written if not for Spielberg's urging.

Tom Kuncoro hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
