12 Dumb Decisions In Harry Potter Movies We Can't Forgive
10. Including (The Immediately Forgetting) The Bloody Barron
Not unlike the absence of Peeves the Poltergeist, some
fans were understandably peeved (hehe) to see the Bloody Baron all-but excised
from the film adaptations of Rowling’s mega-successful series. This one we can
understand a little more—after all, the Baron’s backstory saw him kill both
Ravenclaw’s founder and himself in a violent enough manner to earn his moniker,
so it’s probably fair that the lighter early films didn’t want to address this
awkward exposition.
That said the films do, for some reason, choose to include the Baron briefly—just without any explanation for his gruesome appearance, and with said appearance toned down from the book’s more visceral description too.
So he becomes a bloodless bloody baron whose name is never explained and whose scary backstory, which illustrates the self-destructive tendencies of Slytherins, isn’t told—just not really the Bloody Baron then, is he?
