12 Dumbest Action Movie Weapons

11. Glaive - Krull

Beverly Hills Cop 3
Columbia Pictures

The Glaive is such an important plot device in Krull. It featured on pretty much all of the promotional art, posters and everything else going.

And to be fair, it does look pretty sweet, as weapons go. But on paper, this deadly fidget spinner is just so impractical.

I guess the only saving grace is that the blades are magically retractable, but... what if they fail? How does it differentiate between friend and foe?

Somewhat ruins the hero's journey if the hero can't count how many times on one hand he's failed to catch the legendary weapon.

There's a reason boomerangs aren't sharpened: You catch it like, well, a spinning stick. How are you meant to nimbly pluck this five-pointed sharp thing out of the air?

I don't want to dump on how cool the Glaive is though. It was what appealed to me (and presumably many) to Krull in the first place.

It's just when you think about it, it's not very practical, is it? Well, depending on your perspective, at least.

Going away from you, absolutely. It's the rotational return that you have to worry about.
