12 Dumbest Action Movie Weapons

9. Heat Seeking Bullets - Runaway

Beverly Hills Cop 3
TriStar Pictures

Does anyone remember that scene in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? when the stereotyped Old West bullets stopped for a chat before turning a corner? That was funny, wasn't it?

That's because it's a [partly] animated film, where laws of normality and physics aren't adhered to. Maybe they drew the absurd notion from Runaway, a film that four years prior actually took that concept seriously.

They just... can't do that, though. There's no possibly way a bullet, that travels at roughly 1,800mph, can change its trajectory to seek out heat sources. Sure, there's the Corealis effect and bullet drop, but that's gravity and math doing their thing.

And yes, there are ballistic missiles that can lock on to sources of heat and roughly guide towards it. But bullets, that's a whole new level of silliness.

The notion that the motion of its devotion can somehow be curved is ludicrous, especially at those speeds.

For any of you modern types, remember how daft the concept was in Wanted?

Now you know how your parents felt back in the 80's.
