12 Dumbest Comic Book Movie Characters

1. Gus Gorman - Superman III

Superman III Richard Pryor
Warner Bros. Pictures

There could, of course, only be one winner. Comic book cinema€™s greatest idiot has to be Richard Pryor€™s Gus Gorman, from Richard Lester€™s Superman III. Like a lot of the people on this list, we€™re meant to believe that Gus is some sort of genius (due to his computer coding skills), but his entire demeanour contradicts that suggestion.

Right at the start of the film he€™s conducting a huge scam at his new workplace by stealing all the half pennies floating around in the system. He doesn€™t even consider trying to hide his new wealth, and decides to buy a fancy red sports car and drive it to work the next day. And that€™s hardly the worst of it.

This is a guy that sides with the villains and barely even seems aware of what he€™s doing. He designs the ultimate killing machine then looks surprised when his bosses try to turn it on Superman (who has foiled their plans consistently throughout the movie). And when Superman takes pity on him at the end of the film and finds him a job, he promptly decides to jack it in less than a minute after Supes has left. He's stupid and ungrateful.

Stupidest moment: It€™d be hard to top the scene where Gus falls off a skyscraper with skis and a makeshift cape on. The reason for this? He forgot to mention that he couldn€™t ski.

Have we forgotten any other stupid comic book movie characters? Let us know in the comments...
