12 Dumbest Decisions In Harry Potter Movies
10. The Entire Goblet Of Fire Plan
Between them, Voldemort and Barty Crouch Jr have incredible intellect, cunning and dastardly wits and yet the entire plan that Crouch and his fellow Death Eaters concoct in order to resurrect Voldemort is ridiculously complex and ultimately backfires badly.
In order for the TriWizard Tournament plot to work, they'd have to defeat and capture one of the most notorious aurors of all time, replace him flawlessly, hope that nobody notices them stealing Polyjuice ingredients, beat the Goblet's huge security measures and THEN have every single twisty detail of the tournament itself come off correctly. They left it all in the hands of students and ultimately Peter Pettigrew was forced to kill Cedric and Harry Potter escaped anyway.
When Crouch successfully replaced Mad-Eye Moody, it would have made infinitely more sense to simply take Harry outside of the non-apparating area and teleport him straight to Voldemort. Or to murder him in his sleep, drain the necessary blood and then revive the Dark Lord without all of the Tournament fuss. No wonder it didn't fully work in the end.
