12 Dumbest Decisions In Harry Potter Movies

9. At No Point Checking In On Harry

Let's get this straight, the Order had no choice but to leave Harry with the Dursleys, because it was widely believed that their family bond would protect him better than any magic would. That much you can't argue with.

But pretty much everything else about what happened to Harry until he got his Hogwarts letter was a series of seriously questionable decisions. For a start, why leave a baby on the doorstep, in the cold? That's just neglect. Then there's the complete lack of a failsafe to ensure Harry's well-being over the decade he spent in the Dursley's company.

They had Mrs Figg there to look out for him, but she singularly failed to do her job, actually helping exacerbate his bad treatment by making sure every time she babysat him was miserable. The fact that she did this because she knew exactly what the Dursleys were like suggests she never once reported that to Dumbledore. Why not just send a house elf along to spy every now and then incognito? Anything would have been better than nothing.
