12 Dumbest Decisions In MCU History

2. Fury Didn't Call Captain Marvel When Loki Attacked - The Avengers

Captain Marvel didn't enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe until her solo movie in 2019 after being teased at the end of Infinity War, so she didn't appear in The Avengers in 2012. A look into her past however confirmed that she had been an active superhero long before many of her fellow Avengers, only out in space.

After her adventure with SHIELD, Carol gave Nick Fury a pager that could reach her from across the galaxy, but this was only to be used in an emergency. Fury held on to this and didn't contact her until he and Maria Hill were snapped away, but if he had this option available to him since the mid 1990's, why on Earth didn't he contact her when Loki first invaded New York?

Did an alien invader planning on world domination not count as an emergency? Was the potential destruction of the world not worth Carol Danvers' time? As if his decision wasn't dumb enough, Loki's entire plan was based around the Tesseract, the artifact that Fury KNEW was what gave Carol her powers.

Fury admitted to Loki that he had made him very desperate, just apparently not desperate enough to call for help from the most powerful being in the universe, one who had a personal connection to the Tesseract, and could have ended the battle in mere moments.
