12 Dumbest Decisions In MCU History
1. Thanos Didn't Kill Tony When He Had The Chance - Avengers: Infinity War
Thor wasn't the only hero Thanos could have, and should have killed in Infinity War before they had the chance to stop him. During the battle on Titan, Thanos stabbed Tony Stark through the gut and was about to kill him, stopped only by Doctor Strange's plea.
In exchange for sparing Stark's life, Strange would hand over the Time Stone. Thanos agreed to this bargain, and once he was handed the precious gem, kept his word and didn't kill Iron Man. You almost have to respect that. Thanos didn't want to kill any more than he had to, so when he promised to spare Tony, he meant it.
This would come back to haunt him however, as Tony ultimately made the sacrifice to end Thanos' dream of a new universe, and his life, forever. The Mad Titan knew who Stark was, and had seen first hand the kind of fire power he was working with, so surely he would have been better served by taking the Time Stone from Strange then killing Tony anyway before instantly departing for Earth.
If only he weren't so honourable and didn't keep his word, the Avengers would never have had the capability to go back in time to collect the stones and undo all of Thanos' work, let alone have Earth's best defender there to snap his army away.
