There's something special about this wonderfully heart-warming story of 3 month year old Oscar being separated from his group, during a war with neighbouring chimpanzees. What begins as a daunting tale of loss and fear, soon lifts when Oscar is taken into another group and protected by a usually brutish alpha male.
Now this sounds like a Disney animation and sometimes it looks like one too with footage that is as intimate as it is stunning. Throw in a gripping storyline taken straight from a work of fiction and surely you're onto a winner.
Sit down with your David Attenborough head on or with young kids and enjoy this family documentary for what it is. It's as beautifully captured and presented as any you've seen before and its entertainment factor is through the roof, with Tim Allen lending his voice as the seriously likeable narrator over the high jinxes that only chimps can so charmingly present.
