6. Harrison Ford - Carpenter
A true rags to riches story if there ever was one. Harrison Ford is not just a star; he's practically an emblem of the American Dream. After a couple of smaller roles he had had a brief breakthrough by landing the part of road raging Bob Falfa in American Graffiti. Then there came a dry spell where he couldn't find work. It was the desert many don't survive on the road to success. Fed up with the game and in need of a job to support his family, the thirty-five year old Harrison went back to what he knew best, carpentry, to put food on the table. If you don't think woodworking is hard you've clearly never tried it. Next time you see a tree try to whittle it down into a perfect desk or coffin and you'll quickly find out. Ford was doing such work for some studio executive's office when a guy recognized him from Graffiti. "Harrison, what are you doing here?" "Quit acting at the moment, haven't found any work in awhile." "No way, I got just the part for you, it's gonna be big. Leave this and come with me." He was of course referring to the role of Han Solo in Star Wars.
