5. George Clooney - Tobacco Farmer
I spent my entire teenage life about an hour away from where George Clooney was born in Lexington, Kentucky. Ask the country folk that call the rolling bluegrass hills home whom the most famous person they've ever met is and the answers may surprise you. Johnny Depp and Hunter S. Thompson, but more than likely if you live in Northern KY, George Clooney. It's nothing to meet your friend's mother who dated him back in high school, even work with some of his old friends. I held a summer job in a warehouse a few years back where one of the older gents running the floor claimed to be one of George's best pals back in the day. That man past away last year. If you know anything about Kentucky besides fried chicken and horses it's that the number one product we produce is tobacco. Being a tobacco farmer six days a week and going to church on Sunday is not considered some strange paradox. Tobacco leaves are the local culture. Just ask Clooney who held a summer job himself on his uncle's tobacco farm. Planting the stuff is hard enough, but when it comes time to harvest you got to rake in the heavy long leaves and hang them up to dry in black painted barns. These barns litter the countryside of the state usually falling into terribly dilapidated conditions, sometimes collapsing all together. Don't make fun of the job, it's really hard work. George Clooney will tell you as much and you better believe he's telling you the truth.
