12 Films That Wasted Incredible Potential
4. Alien Vs Predator
On paper at least, this looked like it was set to be an easy win for everybody involved.
In one corner, you had the extraterrestrial terror that would burst out of people's chests, had acid for blood and another mouth on the end of its tongue. In the other, was the space traveling prize hunter, who could turn invisible and had an arsenal of deadly weapons that made a squad of badass commandos look like a bunch of amateurs.
Fans of both the Alien and Predator series knew just how tough it was to kill these things, and were instantly drawn in to see who would come out on top.
Unfortunately, the film would not be the mother of all alien showdowns that fans were hoping for, courtesy of the same writer and director of the Resident Evil film, Paul W. S. Anderson
Instead, fans got a lot of painful B movie acting, terrible directing and a lack of compelling fight scenes. Throw in a bunch of terrible dialogue for good measure and you have a swarm of hopeful fans yawning their way out of the theatres.
