12 Great Moments In Mediocre Comic Book Movies

8. The Silver Surfer Vs The Human Torch In Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer

Why can nobody seem to get the Fantastic Four right on the big screen? Marvel's first family are one of the company's most beloved properties, but whenever they try to venture from the page to the cinema, something is always missing.

While not nearly as bad as the 2015 reboot, Rise of the Silver Surfer certainly had its problems. The worst of these was taking Galactus, one of the most incredible, iconic, awe-inspiring villains in Marvel history, and turning him into a cloud. It's hard to let this one slide to be honest, but there is a genuinely excellent scene from the movie that doesn't ruin any classic characters.

Before he was Captain America, Chris Evans played the polar opposite of the First Avenger, Johnny Storm. The quippy, goofy member of the Fantastic Four, who didn't want to 'flame on' while wearing a Dolce suit, was forced to give chase to the Silver Surfer across New York, even going as far as the Washington Monument and into the planet's atmosphere.

This was a genuinely compelling race, with Evans making jokes the entire time, before being caught by Norrin Radd and dropped back to Earth, landing in the desert. Despite how the rest of the movie played out, this was one hell of an entrance for the Silver Surfer.
