Every so often, there are those small-scale movies that come out in theaters where the sole motivation is to charm audiences and give them a pleasant escape until the credits roll. Peanut Butter Falcon is an excellent example of a classic 'escape' movie. There's charming lightheartedness throughout that keeps you smiling and spirits high, and much of that can be credited to lead actor Zach Gottsagen who shines in his feature film debut.

Playing a 22-year-old with Downs Syndrome, Gottsagen's character Tyler has such an endearing authenticity to him. You can tell much of Gottsagen's own personality and demeanor helped shape Tyler's character, and it helps you connect with him. In addition, his onscreen chemistry with Shia LaBeouf is entertaining and absolutely heartwarming. The two of them together is such a delightful pairing and is what makes the movie work so well.

The only unfortunate component of Peanut Butter Falcon is that it's unclear when Gottsagen would get a leading role like this again. Hopefully, once PBF hits one of the streaming services, it earns a following and others in Hollywood can give Gottsagen more opportunities to charm audiences on a regular basis.
