Avengers: Infinity War was a very busy movie, with Thanos fighting the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy on several different fronts. However, there was still time to give fans one surprise that absolutely no one saw coming.
Fans of the comcs knew that the Mad Titan was likely to snap his fingers by the end of the movie, but who genuinely thought that they would see the Red Skull again? This was one of the most jaw-dropping moments in all of the MCU.
As Thanos ventured to Vormir to get his big, purple hands on the Soul Stone, a mysterious voice spoke to him, veiled behind shadow and darkness. He spoke of Thanos’ parents, and drifted into the light to reveal himself as the man that once was Johann Schmidt.
The former leader of HYDRA had searched for the Infinity Stones previously, and in doing so had found himself banished to Vormir to act as a guide to any who sought the Soul Stone. What a way to bring back a character MCU fans had no reason to believe would be returning ever again.
