Moving forward in the MCU, it seems as though every one of the original Avengers will be getting a new version of themselves. Ironheart, She-Hulk, Jane Foster, Yelena, and Kate Bishop will all have potentially big roles to play in the future of the franchise, but possibly none so big as the new Captain America, Sam Wilson.

At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers passed his famous shield on to the man known as Falcon, but accepting such a title was about far more than just holding a vibranium disc. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier delved into the details of the shield’s history, and why Sam taking the step to become Cap was about more than just himself.

At first, he had no interest in becoming Captain America, but the title was then given to the painfully unworthy John Walker. He then found out the history and the truth about the super soldier serum and how his own government treated Isaiah Bradley compared to Steve Rogers. When Sam finally donned the costume Bucky had made in Wakanda for him, it was about so much more than himself as an individual.

It was about oppression, discrimination, and representing every man, woman, and child whose views on the world were the same as Isaiah’s. Sam did it for them, and even though everyone knew it was going to happen by the end of the series, it was still a show stopping, character defining moment.
