WandaVision was the MCU’s first foray into the world of Disney+, and it began by putting Wanda Maximoff in the limelight like never before. Her name may have only made up half of the title, but make no mistake, this was absolutely her show.

Throughout her life, Wanda has lost her parents at a young age, her twin brother was murdered by a megalomaniacal robot, her entire country was destroyed, she had to kill her love for the greater good of the universe before it was reversed and she had to watch him die all over again.

WandaVision told the story of her dealing with this grief and heartache, by way of creating her own reality. Through this, the question of her powers was more prominent than ever as she was able to create a family and control an entire town’s worth of people. It turned out that she wasn’t simply a product of the Mind Stone’s effect, but she was the legendary, at least in terms of Agnes' folklore, Scarlet Witch.

This was a huge revelation in the MCU. Fans have known who she was ever since she entered the fray in Age of Ultron, but due to the mutant rights residing with Fox, Marvel Studios were never allowed to use that term. This was the first time she had been called the Scarlet Witch, and not only was this amazing for fans to hear, but to see Wanda embrace her power and take a stand with a stunning transformation was the absolute highlight of the series.
