2. Godzilla - Halo Jump
This particular moment, in which a team of US soldiers halo jump into a burning, monster-ridden San Francisco, wasn't just the best moment of the film. It was one of the best movie scenes of 2014.
Not only is the halo jump sequence beautifully made and great to look at, but it also generates palm-sweating levels of fear and anticipation. The scene's goosebump-inducing musical score is unbelievably good and creates a wonderful sense of menace, while the intelligently slow build-up to the soldiers landing in the burning city only ratchets up the dread even further.
Simply, this scene is a fantastic bit of cinema and it's hard to imagine many viewers weren't blown away by this scene, regardless of what they felt about the overall film. So, what could possibly be better than this?
