Right back at the start of the year, well before The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises made 2012 the year of the superhero beyond all doubt, our own Robert Curtis put together a set of rules that should always be adhered to when making a superhero movie. His 10 Golden Rules took in everything from respecting the source, casting issues and when to kill a villain, and in hindsight, his choices were pretty prophetic of what we would get to see in those films. 8. 20 Most Controversial Movies of All Time
Film fans love controversy. No matter how many people complain about a film for its controversial moments, there will always be more people who will want to watch those films precisely because of the more graphic or colourful moments. That's why so many people have seen A Serbian Film, or the terrible, terrible Human Centipede films - they have no artistic merit (regardless of their makers' insistence), they are merely flames for a particular type of moth, and they are irresistible.
