10. The Invitation

Boasting a cast well versed in the realms of horror, including Logan Marshall-Green (Devil), Michiel Huisman (The Haunting Of Hill House), and John Carroll Lynch (American Horror Story), The Invitation is a movie ultimately about a cult, but hidden beneath the layers of a real psychological thriller.

Will and Kira attend a dinner party held by his ex-wife and her new partner, the first time the couple have been seen in two years. Suspicious of their intentions from the start, Will is subjected to weird and unusual behaviour from the hosts and their friends, while having to deal with being back in the house where he and Eden's son Ty died.

The movie balances the drowning feeling of paranoia with the raw emotion of dealing with an irreplaceable loss, giving the audience zero respite from the tension and anxiety Will is facing. This isn't just another cult movie, this is a true thriller lifted even further by the performance of the likes of Marshall-Green and Carroll Lynch, and at just 100 minutes, doesn't overstay its welcome.
