Necronomicon is a long forgotten horror anthology from 1993, where Lovecraft himself goes to a library to read scary tales from the cursed book. It's hit and miss stuff, but the last story – Whispers – gets credit for ending in the grimmest way imaginable.

The plot has a female cop chasing a killer into an abandoned warehouse, only to find herself trapped in a cavern filled with alien bats. These bats like to eat brains and drink bone marrow, which she learns the hard way once they overwhelm her and cut her arm off with their saw tongues. She then wakes up in a hospital, relieved it was just a nightmare.

Only it bloody wasn’t, since the aliens are just messing with her. The walls disappear to reveal the cavern, and she discovers both her legs and one arm have been cut off. While the bats enjoy drinking her bone marrow, they also set about cutting off her last limb, and all she can do is laugh in horror while being eaten alive.
