12 Horror Films That Will Scare You Senseless In 2020
8. The Lodge
Newbie directors Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala look set to have the surprise horror hit of 2020 on their hands with this tense looking genre flick.
While the plot sounds reassuringly gentle - teens Aiden and Mia reluctantly head out with their dad to an isolated cabin, in a bid to bond with their new stepmum - don't let the premise fool you: the film's atmospheric setting alone is enough to make you never venture out into the wilderness again.
You can see why there has been some major festival buzz with this one going by a trailer that seems to have taken a few nods from The Shining in terms of making isolation s**t scary and a genuinely unnerving cultish vibe as the kids come to realise they really aren't alright. The film also boasts a strong cast in Riley Keoigh as the patriarch with a dark past and a leading role for IT's Jaeden Martell.
You'll never look at a cottage in the same way again.
