This particular disowning is more amicable than most—or maybe far harsher, depending on how you look at it.

After all, it took Chicago star/ unspellable name Renee Zellweger over two decades to even acknowledge her involvement in the belated franchise addition/ thwarted reboot attempt The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (no relation to the Star Trek series of the same name, but yes they were released around the same time).

In the meantime co-star Matthew McConnaughey had laughed about his part in the ill-fated flick, but Zellweger remained tight-lipped until in 2016 she said of her role that “I was so excited… nobody had ever trusted me with a role before to carry a film.”

Pretty amicable, right?

Sure—until she referred to the film’s production as “ridiculous kamikaze filmmaking”, adding “I’m sure none of it was legal”.
