3. What Role Will Thanos Have? Guardians Of The Galaxy
Ever since he turned his head in our direction and smirked, Thanos has been the giant question mark of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many expected that he would naturally end up being the villain in The Avengers 2, but this has turned out to be Ultron, suggesting that Thanos will actually be the 'final boss' of sorts in The Avengers 3. Marvel seem to be playing the long game with the character, meaning we've not seen a single glimpse of him in almost two years, though it has been confirmed that he will appear in some form in both Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron. On his role in Guardians, director James Gunn said, "Thanos is a character in our movie. He's the main sort of antagonist...in my movie Ronan works for Thanos, and Ronan is the main bad guy in our film." It's a relatively vague comment that makes it clear Thanos will be taking a back seat to Lee Pace's Ronan, but little else. Will we just see Thanos at brief intervals throughout, or will we get to see a real demonstration of his enormous powers at some point?
