Really, though, the main even in the DC Cinematic Universe is the twin Justice League films they have coming up. Man Of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice director Zack Snyder will helm both parts; the first hits theatres on November 17, 2017 (after Wonder Woman), and the second is pencilled in for June 14, 2019 (after The Flash, Aquaman and Shazam get their solo films). Either that's a couple of big movies that are planned ahead, or two parts of one epic story. In which case, there's only really one good Justice League story from the comics in living memory worth adapting. Grant Morrison not only provided one of the best stories about the Man Of Steel in All-Star Superman but he's also basically responsible for the modern Justice League, conceiving of them as the modern equivalent of the pantheon of gods. Then he set about creating enemies that could fight gods. Best of all were the White Martians that lead the charge in the Justice League story New World Order. They snuck onto Earth under the guise of being a new superteam, whilst quietly dispatching all of the Justice League, having watched from afar and gauged all their weaknesses. As it happens, they rather underestimated the one member of the team without real powers... A big, sweeping action story with a great twist ending, lots of classic character moments, a truly despicable and inventive group of villains and a Morrison zeal for narrative? Shut up and take all our money!
