12 Incredible Endings To Otherwise Terrible Movies

7. Rocky V (1990)

Considering how good Creed and even Rocky Balboa were, it's shocking to think they had to overcome Rocky V being utter garbage to make it into production. The 1990 sequel is so bad that nobody in their right mind would have complained had the franchise died with it - and it looked for a long time like that was going to be the case.

It's a cheesy movie that tries too hard to channel the original (unsuccessfully) and which barely even feels like the other Rocky films that came before it. And on top of that, there's a lot of criticism out there for Stallone's decision not to kill Rocky in the final scene as was initially intended. That admittedly would have been better than what they went with, but the street fight finale is still good in itself.

Seeing Rocky and Tommy Gunn duke it out on the streets - pretty much bringing the franchise full circle - is a brilliant moment and the way the fight is framed is far better than most of the fight scenes elsewhere in the series. Plus, Tommy is about the most insufferable kid in any movie and watching Rocky pulverise him is wonderfully cathartic.
