10 Incredible Movies With TERRIBLE Villains

7. Gabriel - Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1

Over the last 30 years, Mission Impossible has spawned some of the most dangerous stunts and breath-taking action sequences ever seen in the genre.

However, the scale of the final instalment, Dead Reckoning, was so monumental, it had to be split into two parts. This time around, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) squares off against a liaison assassin called Gabriel (Esai Morales), who seeks world domination by using a hyper-adaptable AI unit called The Entity.

Gabriel is Ethan's most personal villain, since they've known each other for decades, predating the events in the first movie. He also attacks Ethan on an emotional level, successfully murdering his ally and close friend, Ilsa Faust. Since Gabriel is Hunt's final opponent, he should've been the Thanos of the franchise.

Sadly, Gabriel is a cookie-cutter terrorist. Morales doesn't take any creative risks with the role which doesn't help the character either. Mission Impossible villains like Philip Seymour Hoffman's Davian may have been hammy, but at least they were memorable.

The fact Gabriel doesn't leave much of an impression throughout Dead Reckoning Part 1's near-three-hour runtime highlights just how underwritten he is.
