12 Incredibly Successful Movies (That Nobody Likes)

11. Thor: The Dark World

Alice In Wonderland
Marvel Studios

Gross: $644,783,140

When people were doing MCU rewatches before Avengers: Infinity War, it's likely that they skipped past Thor: The Dark World entirely. That's completely understandable.

After all, there's very little to be gained from this movie at all. The script is terrible, the action sequences are tedious, the plot has no originality or stakes and it doesn't have any bearing on the wider MCU narrative at all. It was evidently only made to give Thor a solo outing between The Avengers and Avengers: Infinity War.

Out of this flawed but mostly strong franchise, Thor: The Dark World is by several clear miles the worst of its 23 films and it's even worse than 2010's terrible Iron Man 2.

Hopefully the MCU will never give us anything this underwhelming again but given that the four most recent MCU films (Ant-Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far from Home) have all been disappointing and safe except for Endgame, there's definitely reason to be pessimistic.
