12 Incredibly Successful Movies (That Nobody Likes)

10. The Lion King

Alice In Wonderland
Disney

Gross: $1,656,943,394

This one being a box-office titan isn't exactly surprising, since it's a remake of a truly wonderful classic and it actually looked really good from the trailers, but it's still an enormous shame that this butchering of a great film is not only one of the top-ten highest grossing films ever, but also the most successful animated film of all time.

Since this copies and pastes the original film, it feels pointless from the off, but ultimately this is both a carbon copy and a desecration. This sucks all the joy and heart out of the original story, ruins every single one of the iconic songs and features a round-up of bewilderingly dull vocal performances from its great cast.

And while, of course, the visual effects are stunning, even they aren't necessarily a positive as the movie's visual style is totally wrong for the story. Since the characters are so realistic-looking, they are never able to emote properly and they never look like they're singing during any of the songs, so this ruins the film even more.

Overall, a sad disappointment. Still, we'll always have the original.
