12 Incredibly Successful Movies (That Nobody Likes)

8. The Da Vinci Code

Despite mixed reviews and plenty of controversy, Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code was one hell of a bestseller and therefore it's not surprising that the film adaptation was so successful but good lord! This is easily one of the most insufferable films ever made.

This ridiculous and convoluted 'thriller' is incredibly boring and stretches on and on to almost two and a half hours, while the fact that it wastes a great cast (including lead Tom Hanks, who gives one of his worst performances) certainly doesn't help matters. Meanwhile, the ever-inconsistent Ron Howard directs on autopilot.

Perhaps the worst thing about this is that it's a completely ludicrous film, yet it all takes itself very seriously and actually seems to think it's clever and profound. The beyond-preposterous treasure hunt that takes place in the movie - wrapped around a ridiculous conspiracy protecting a secret about Jesus - and lines such as "You are the last living descendant of Jesus Christ" are presented as if they're the most natural things in the world.
