6. The One That Was Basically Blobs Versus Robots - Wall-E
The Movie We Know...
One of the most underrated of Pixar's movies, complete with a pertinent portrait of human impact on the planet and a morality tale about excessive behaviour. Also, two robots fall in love and it's about the most damn adorable thing ever.
But, What We Almost Got...
A monsters versus robots war movie (at least partly) with a nasty sting in the tale for humanity.
In the early development stages, Andrew Stanton's idea was to have Wall-E unwittingly dropped into a robot rebellion aboard the Axiom against a boneless race of blob monsters called Gels. The twist would have eventually revealed that the Gels were actually just "evolved" humans, who had changed horribly after generations in zero gravity conditions in space.
Thankfully, the humans Wall-E meets are still recognisably human, which made the human impact warning actually land more effectively.
