12 LGBTQ Comic Book Characters Ready For Live-Action Adaptation
3. Green Lantern-Alan Scott
It's hard to find a more old school DC hero than Alan Scott. Before Hal Jordan and before the Green Lantern Corps, there was Alan Scott. He is the original Green Lantern. In 2012, a new DC comic series was launched that re-imagined the DC world on Earth 2 and Alan Scott was reborn. Bringing him back not only as a new kind of hero but also as a gay man garnered a lot of attention when the series debuted and it would be a shame not to capitalize on that goodwill.
DC has already tried to make a Green Lantern movie once and we all know how that went but there is another one coming down the track in the plans for the DC movie universe. Various casting rumors and the title are all we know about it for now but it is being called the Green Lantern Corps, which implies more than one person in the movie bearing a Green Lantern ring. It is a given that Hal Jordan will likely be the focus of a cinematic Green Lantern story but they cannot completely ignore the original GL Alan Scott.
Casting Options
With his old school roots, you could even cast someone older than the usual superhero like Sean Bean or Simon Baker.
