12 Live-Action Anime Projects You Didn’t Know Were Happening
7. Naruto
At this point, Naruto seems to be the only one of the big pillar anime not to have a live-action adaptation. Dragon Ball had the woeful Dragon Ball evolution, Bleach had the Netflix adaptation, and One Piece, well, One Piece comes later *wink wink*. Truth be told, fans aren't all too upset about that, especially not after seeing what Hollywood did to Goku.
Unfortunately, it seems that being one of the most mainstream anime of all time puts a real target on your back for adaptations, as Lionsgate has been attempting to produce something out of the IP since 2015. The project is currently in development hell, with fans only receiving scarce pieces of information since the announcement.
Some of these reveals include the possible director being Michael Gracey (director of The Greatest Showman), the producing chair being given to Avi Arad (an executive in Sony's superhero line-up) and a screenplay from Erich and Jon Hoeber.
If, and that's a big if, the movie ever does find its way onto the big screen, it sure is going to be a spectacle.
