As if Skydance didn't have their hands full enough with the Sword Art Online remake, they've also got their fingers in another sci-fi anime pie. However, the difference here is that this one is far more critically well-received and is often touted as one of the best anime of all time. Those are some pretty tough standards to live up to.

Steins;Gate is a mind-melding time travel anime that follows a rag-tag group led by the hilariously over-the-top Rintaro Okabe - a self-professed mad scientist. They discover the ability to send messages back through time, and antics ensue.

Part of what makes the anime so phenomenal is how much faith it has in its audience, which is why a Hollywood reimagining has cause for concern. The American movie market has a bad habit of spelling things out too much, and this is a series where doing so could be the death of it.

As of right now, there isn't a tonne of hard information on the adaptation, just the announcement that it's in the works. Still, you can find the official website here (albeit in Japanese), where updates will be posted as the project progresses.
