12 Major Implications Of Spider-Man Joining Marvel's Phase 3

6. The Changes To The MCU Release Slate

The most concrete changes to the shape of things to come is that Marvel have shifted around Phase 3's film releases to accommodate Spider-Man - and specifically Kevin Feige's work on the 2017 stand-alone, which will be, at least spiritually, part of the expanded MCU. The changes look like this: - €œThor: Ragnarok€ will now hit theaters November 3, 2017. €“ €œBlack Panther€ will make its way to theaters on July 6, 2018 €“ €œCaptain Marvel€ arrives on November 2, 2018. €“ €œInhumans€ will now debut in theaters July 12, 2019. All four movies have been shifted back six months, to allow Spider-Man 2017 to breathe (Sony weren't going to sign on to compete directly with Thor, regardless of whether they'd win or not). There's also indication in the emprt November 2018 slot on the initial slate that this deal has been planned for as long as the Phase 3 line-up was in mind. Notice, it also effectively makes The Inhumans the start of Phase 4.
