12 Marvel Movies You Didn't Know Were Secretly Connected

11. Ghost Rider And X-Men Villains - Ghost Rider (2007)

Spider-Man Daredevil

It is safe to say that Ghost Rider (2007) is not anyone's favourite comic book film, with a rating of just 26% on Rotten Tomatoes. Nicolas Cage is the only reason the film is memorable, hamming it up as only Nicolas Cage can.

Early in the movie, at the 18-minute mark, there is a very subtle reference to the X-Men that only fans of Marvel's Merry Mutants will notice. A biker accosts the film's villain wearing a demonic-looking T-shirt, but the demonic-looking character is actually one of the X-Men's villains, Abyss.

It is unknown whether the reference was deliberate or just the costume department using a demonic-looking image. Regardless, it sets an exciting precedent as either the X-Men themselves are comic book characters within the Ghost Rider universe, or Xavier has managed to market the X-Man brand to include both the heroes and villains.

As Abyss hasn't appeared in an X-Men related film to date, it is more likely to hint at the former, but the latter option would be far more fun.
