12 Marvel Movies You Didn't Know Were Secretly Connected

10. Blade And The Eye Of Agamotto – Blade 2 (2002)

Spider-Man Daredevil
New Line Cinema

Directed by the legendary Guillermo del Toro and starring Wesley Snipes, Blade 2 (2002) is one of the only early 2000s Marvel movies well regarded besides the X-Men and the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films. The original two Blade films are widely accredited with kickstarting the modern comic book movie boom, which led to the X-Men and Spider-Man franchises and later the MCU.

Long before Doctor Strange graced the MCU, there was a small reference to the Sorcerer Supreme hidden within the first battle between Blade and the main villain Nomak.

When Blade enters the abandoned church, the scene lingers on a stained-glass window shaped like the Eye of Agamotto. Del Toro was a fan of the character, and a Doctor Strange movie was even in development with a script written by Neil Gaiman. Sadly, the project was rejected by Marvel.

At the time, the reference was no more than a nod to a character that Guillermo del Toro was a fan of, but with the upcoming Multiverse of Madness, the throwaway reference could now become something more.
