12 Marvel Movies You Didn't Know Were Secretly Connected
8. Fantastic Four Deleted Scene – Fantastic Four (2005)
Another failed Wolverine cameo of sorts. Hidden within Fantastic Four's (2005) extended cut there was a clear link between both the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, as the movie rights for both properties were owned by 20th Century Fox at the time. It implies that Marvel's first family and the Merry Mutants were part of the same universe.
Early on in the film Susan Storm (Jessica Alba) and Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd) are on a date. At one point Reed makes a joke about Susan preferring a 'stronger' man and morphs his face to resemble Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). The deleted scene clearly shows the Fantastic Four are aware of the X-Men and vice versa.
At the time Fox would have been unlikely to do more than hint at a shared universe, but if they had doubled down and crossed the two properties over, they would have beat Marvel and Disney to an interconnected universe. Who knows what comic book movies would look like if Wolverine fought the Thing before the Avengers could assemble?
