12 Massive Changes In Comic Book Movies From The Source Material

2. Galactus As A Cloud

galactus What the hell was this about? This is one that I am more than happy to complain about to this day. Galactus, the planet-devouring cosmic entity and known scourge of the Fantastic Four, is generally depicted in the comics as a huge humanoid in a large, purple, armoured outfit with a trademark helmet (which was briefly shown in the form of a shadow in the movie). What we ultimately got in the Rise of the Silver Surfer movie was a giant cloud. That's it. A giant, planet-swallowing cloud. I suppose, the argument can be made that it has been explained in the comics that Galactus is perceived differently by different people, and one might argue that it would be very difficult to seriously convey a giant man with a purple helmet as a planetary threat on the big screen, but this cloud version was so far removed from the Galactus that we are familiar with that it was nothing short of pathetic. It didn't help matters that the film 'he' (can we even call it that?) appeared in was utterly garbage, but this cloud version of one of the most powerful characters in comic book history didn't help to improve things on that front at all.
