6. Staff Sergeant Sykes - Jarhead
The Bible says "Thou shalt not kill." But hear this: F*** that s***! - Staff Sergeant Sykes
There's nothing wrong with Staff Sergeant Sykes on the outside. In a lot of ways he is the perfect Non Commissioned officer or NCO. He's fearless, dependable, tough, smart, and disciplined. On the other hand you get the impression that he would massacre an entire village without a second thought if his orders dictated he do so. He is the perfect soldier without a conscience, which makes him all the more dangerous. He doesn't do his job because it's his job or because it needs to be done, he does it because he loves it. While watching Jarhead you get the sense that Sykes also loves the war more than he loves being a human being with a life back home. While you may want to share a foxhole with him when the chips are down, that's not a good thing.
