12 Modern Movie Gems Under 90 Minutes

5. Office Space

Runtime: 89 minutes The ultimate slacker fantasy, Office Space is about the festering need to pursue happiness outside of the corporate structure. Not all of the characters are likeable (in fact, a lot of them relish in how unpleasant they are), but every single one of them was given at least one iconic line that your coworkers still quote to this day. What works best in Mike Judge's creation isn't the overwrought soliloquies about the indignities of the modern office, positing the workplace as an air-conditioned sweatshop. What's held up so well is the little observations. It's the traffic jam that follows you from lane to lane on the way to work. It's the overly cheerful coworker that wants to suppress your "case of the Mondays" with a too-big smile. It's the fickle copier that says "Paper Jam" when there is no paper jam. The greatness is in the details.
