12 More Movie Endings That Trolled Audiences

6. The Wolf Of Wall Street

Wolf Of Wall Street
Paramount Pictures

A blackly comic masterpiece (one of many times Leo was robbed off an Oscar which was rightfully his), Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street seems set up to be a pretty standard morality tale, not unlike the earlier Oliver Stone effort Wall Street or biopics of more explicitly criminal figures such as Goodfellas’ Henry Hill. However, after a protracted third act wherein our hero Jordan Belfort’s entire scant enterprise falls apart around him, the film takes a left turn and trolls audiences completely.

In the end the irascible Belfort learns nothing other than how to pass on his skills to other hopeful chancers, escaping any meaningful consequences, never redeeming himself, and essentially going from one high paying gig as an abusive sociopath to another.
