12 Most Anticipated Action Movies Coming In 2020 (And Beyond)

7. Wonder Woman 1984 (August 4, 2020)

Wonder Woman was something of an outlier during the early, Zack Snyder-driven years of the DCEU in that critics didn't sh*t all over it. The end of the movie may have faltered after settling on a finale that involved one CGI creation punching another CGI creation with effects that weren't exactly convincing, but the first installment still did more than enough to make audiences invested in what comes next for the title character.

With the origin story out of the way, director Patty Jenkins is free to take the shackles off for the follow-up, and what better way to do that than capitalizing on the current obsession for 1980s nostalgia?

It remains to be seen how Chris Pine's return from the dead will be explained and how it relates to the plot, and we've seen very little so far to tell us how Kristen Wiig will fare playing the villain in a comic book movie, but Wonder Woman 1984 nonetheless looks like a bigger, bolder, brasher and all-round more exciting return to the big screen for Gal Gadot's Diana Prince.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
