Daniel Craig's run as cinema's most famous secret agent has been marked by inconsistency, with undoubted high-points Casino Royale and Skyfall immediately followed by Quantum of Solace and Spectre respectively, and while they were by no means awful movies, they underwhelmed by comparison.

While the first trailer was all over the place tonally, it offered enough to indicate that Craig is looking to pull out all of the stops as he bids farewell to James Bond for good. His run as 007 has humanized the character more than any other, and No Time to Die looks to evoke some genuine pathos alongside the required high-octane action.

Despite repeating the 'bad guy with facial deformity' trait that has characterized recent Bond outings, Rami Malek is talented enough to elevate his Safin far beyond villain of the week material, and by returning from self-imposed exile Craig looks to bring his iteration of Bond full circle from the unproven rookie we first met in Casino Royale.

His first and third Bonds comfortably rank among the finest entries the franchise has ever seen, and given the talent involved there's little to doubt that the fifth will follow suit.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
